Text of speech by ambassador on the occasion of the 45 anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran

- Respected Ambassadors and High Commissioners,

- Media and University Scholars and professors,

- Distinguished guests,

- Ladies and Gentleman,

Assalumun alaykum and a very good evening to everybody.

I am delighted that we are celebrating the forty-fifth anniversary of the national day and I extend a warm welcome to you all.
At the beginning I would like to congratulate the successful conduct of parliamentary election and the formation of the new cabinet of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. I wish all the best for the new journey. No doubt achievements in the recent years in economic and social sectors of Bangladesh, along with the developmental infrastructure projects under the wise leadership of HPM Sheikh Hasina, will result in improving the living conditions of the people and further development and progress of the country.

Forty-five years ago, the Iranian revolution by the active role of the people under the leadership of Imam Khomeini (PBUH) as one of the most popular revolutions of the 20th century became victorious and the Islamic Republic of Iran was established. Since then, Iranians determined their political and social destiny through democratic mechanisms and various elections.
Despite obstacles and pressure, and threats of terrorism, Islamic Republic of Iran has achieved significant advancements in various fields such as scientific, economic, and technology. Statistics from reputable international institutions indicate Iran's progress and development, especially in scientific and technological areas. Iran has the first regional rank and high global rank in many of the fields of science, agriculture, biological sciences, biochemistry, genetics, stem cells and energy. In the fields of robotics, nanotechnology, satellite launchers, and steel production, now the country is among the top countries worldwide.

Ladies and gentleman
More than 120 days is passed since the horrific crimes against the people in Gaza Strip, and attacks against the defenseless Palestinian people is still continuing. In the past few month, many people have been killed, most of them innocent children and women. During this time, urban infrastructure, even medical and educational centers, and UN facilities have been targeted by military attacks.
The ongoing situation in occupied Palestine is the result of the longstanding denial of the Palestinian people's legitimate right to self-determination, the ongoing Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people and their land.
For 75 years, the Palestinian people have been victims of the continues aggression, violence, racial discrimination, and apartheid policies. The occupation of their land continues with blockading cities, the destruction and confiscation of property and farmlands, and the forced evacuation of people from their homes. Such ongoing atrocities represent a clear violation of international humanitarian law and established principles and norms of human rights.
While recognizing the inherent right of self-determination for all Palestinians under international law, Islamic Republic of Iran remains steadfast in its belief that the question of Palestine can only be resolved by ending the occupation, recognizing the inalienable rights of self-determination of the Palestinian people and through holding a national referendum with the participation of all Palestinian people, which requires the full restoration and protection of these rights.

Iran and Bangladesh share deep-rooted cultural, linguistic, religious and historical ties. Our bilateral relations have been expanding and growing in various fields. In the past, we have had the visit of the HPM to Iran and the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Bangladesh. We are eager to continue high-level delegations' exchanges between the two countries in future to further strengthen the existing cordial and friendly relations. We hope that, with the efforts of the both sides, we will witness further flourishing of relations in all political, economic, and cultural domains, making the bonds of friendship between the two nations stronger.
