In this meeting the two emphasized the need to develop the all-out cultural-religious ties between Iran and Bangladesh as two Muslim and influential countries in the Islamic World and the region. Cooperation in the areas of Hadj pilgrimage and the necessity to strengthen solidarity and unity amongst the Islamic countries was also stressed. In the meeting the invitation from the Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance was submitted to H.E. Mr. Abdullah to take part in the upcoming Islamic Unity Conference to be held in Tehran soon. Mr. Nafar also commended the measures adopted by the Awami League government to propagate the freedom of religions and faiths in Bangladesh (such as the nation-wide holiday recognition of Ashura as well as the fight against radical religious movements). He also referred to the successful completion of Hadj Rituals this year as one of the prime examples of Mr. Abdullah’s management.
Mr. Abdullah on his part called the Iranian role in the regional equations as exemplary and emphasized the necessity of unity in Muslim world.
